The Pitch Nigeria Challenge: 50 Contestants Battle for Honour

After a 3-day entrepreneurship boot camp at the Enterprise Development Centre of the Lagos Business School, contestants at the maiden edition of The Pitch Nigeria challenge powered by SMEToolkit engaged in a final pitching competition to determine who emerges winner.

The boot camp opened on Monday January 28, 2019. 50 contestants who had scaled through the first level Pitch interview took part in the boot camp.

The 3-day event featured various activities including in-class training sessions, group work, media interviews, and networking sessions.

An exciting feature of the boot camp was the very well planned media coverage which had the contestants constantly engaged in media conversations.

At the end of the 3-day boot camp, all the 50 contestants were invited to take part in a second level Pitch. The Pitch was held from January 31- February 1, 2019.

The second level Pitch involved contestants presenting and defending their business ideas before a panel of four eminent judges. The judges included Chukie Edozien, Gbubemi Atimomo, Ikenna Nnoli and Ekemini Augustine-Edet

The Pitch Nigeria Challenge, sponsored by Sterling Bank Nigeria would reward the overall winner with a N10 million interest-free loan.

The first runner-up in the competition will go home with N5 million in the form of an interest-free loan.

The second runner-up will smile home with a N1 million interest-free loan.

The rest of the 47 contestants are automatically eligible for single digit interest loans from Sterling Bank.

Also, under the auspices of the Enterprise Development Centre and Sterling Bank, all 50 contestants at The Pitch Nigeria Challenge are qualified to apply for the CBN SMEs loans.

The CBN SMEs loans provide funding support to small and medium scale business to the tune of N10 million at 5% interest rate.

At the moment, the 50 contestants have presented their business ideas in keenly contested Pitching event.

The judges are now in the process of determining the top 5 performers who will proceed to the final round of the competition.

At the final round of the competition which will feature the senior executives of Enterprise Development Centre and Sterling Bank, the top 3 winners will be determined.

The overarching aim of The Pitch Nigeria Challenge powered by SMEToolkit is to identify and support Nigeria emerging world class entrepreneurs.
