The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Africa’s foremost pro-entrepreneurship philanthropic organization on October 25, 2018 convened TEFforum2018, the largest gathering of African entrepreneurs from all 54 countries of Africa as well as tons of high networth investors from all over the world.
The forum which had very eminent political figures and economic giants including the President of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo in attendance and Kenyan President, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta participate from the Kenyan State House, signaled the climax of the 2018 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program which opened for Applications in January of 2018.
It could be recalled that on March 22, 2018, The Tony Elumelu Foundation released a list of 1000+250 young African entrepreneurs who had been selected from a poll of over 50,000 applications received from all 54 African countries.
These selected entrepreneurs were taken through 12 weeks of intensive mentoring and business coaching to ensure they were thoroughly furnished with all the information and linkages they needed to become successful in their businesses.
The 12-week intensive training exercise climaxed with the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum tagged #TEFforum2018.
The Forum which provided a tremendous opportunity for African entrepreneurs to network with other entrepreneurs who might become their business partners in future; engage with mentors and leaders in politics and business as well as connect with tons of other entrepreneurial opportunities, provided the best platform for the launch of the TEF Connect, the World’s largest digital platform for African entrepreneurs by the President of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo assisted by the Founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony O. Elumelu, some Nigerian State governors, international development partners as well as senior officers of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Heirs Holdings, Avon Medical, Transcorp Plc. United Bank for Africa etc.
The Forum which was streamed live and viewed by millions of African entrepreneurs and enthusiasts around the world also featured a pitching session which saw Mahassin Quadri from Nigeria winning the Pitching Competition.
One of the high points of the TEFforum2018 was the presentation of awards to five most impactful Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurs drawn from different parts of Africa.
According to Tony Elumelu, Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, the $5,000 seed capital to be provided to over 1,000 entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries is to institutionalize luck which he believes is essential to entrepreneurial success.
The TEFforum2018 was indeed an event that will go down in history as one of the most prominent efforts at driving Africa’s transformation through Africapitalism.
