It’s Day 4 in the ongoing Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016 taking place in Lagos Nigeria.
The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration for Entrepreneurship, celebrating creativity, innovation and job creation, and without doubt, has been an amazing form of publicity nationally and internationally for entrepreneurs!
During this celebration in Nigeria, the Enterprise Development Centre, Nigeria partners with entrepreneurs to hold various events; from conferences to organized walks to drum up support for entrepreneurship.
If you’re an entrepreneur or one who aspires to be a job creator, then you should endeavor to be part of the events lined up for the celebration.
So far, a number of activities have rolled by, a couple of them are mentioned below
On Saturday 12th November, 2016 at 7.00AM, we had a walk for entrepreneurship tagged:
Global Entrepreneurship Week Walk for Entrepreneurship
at Muri Okunola Parks & Gardens Adeyemo Alakija, Victoria Island. Lagos (Starting Point)
The Global Entrepreneurship Week Walk for Entrepreneurship jump kick-started the activities for the week. The aim of the walk was to physically raise awareness and promote entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and job creation. The walk held simultaneously in different geo-political zones.
On Monday 14th November, 2016 between 9am and 1pm, the were expository lectures centered on:
Technology in HR Management
at the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, KM 22, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ajah, Lagos
This was the first event of the week and was tagged ‘Make It Work’. It focused on effective online method of job placement and management. It consisted of informative talks, facilitated by business consultants. There was an open discussion and interactive session that gave participants the opportunity to ask questions and build robust business network. The event undoubtedly got entrepreneurial creative minds thinking about how they can strategically hire the right staff for their businesses.
Between 1pm and 4pm, there was hangout session tagged:
Hangout With Creative Minds
The event took place at ACE-Olivia Hall City Mall, Onikan, Lagos.
‘Hangout With Creative Minds’ brought together successful players in the creative industry to discuss the way out of the prevailing economic recession and spot creative and innovative opportunities that will provide greater access to market.
Entrepreneurs also had the opportunity to exhibit and sell their products at the event.
On Tuesday 15th November, 2016, from 9am-2pm, young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to discuss issues regarding the culture of entrepreneurship among young people. The event tagged:
Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue
Held at the Lagos Business School, KM 22, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ajah, Lagos.
The Youth Entrepreneurship Dialogue created a forum where fresh graduates, youth corps members and students from tertiary institutions discussed and discovered their entrepreneurial instincts and also explored opportunities to market and employment. There was also an entrepreneurial fair by the Lagos Business School- MBA students. Startups had the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to Angel Investors and other high net worth entrepreneurs.
Today being Wednesday 16th November, 2016, it’s the women’s day. It is tagged:
Enterprise Women Day, Lagos
The Venue is the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Time for the event is 9am-2pm
Enterprise Day for Women is an event that focuses and highlights the various challenges in the society that prevents female entrepreneurs from scaling up and being appreciated. Successful female entrepreneurs come together to discuss these prevailing issues and map out positive ways to tackle these challenges through sharing their experiences and offering strategic suggestions that could help the women to scale – up successfully.
Tomorrow, Thursday, 17th November, 2016 will be the turn of agro-entrepreneurs to examine opportunities available to them. The event is tagged:
The venue is Four Point Hotel, Victoria Island.
Time is 9am – 2pm
The Agro-ignite’ conference became necessary given the current economic down town in the country, particularly with the fall in the oil sector. Considering the GEW objective, whereby creativity, innovation and job creation are celebrated in a more concentrated manner, organizing such conference on agricultural becomes evidently crucial. As agriculture is being repositioned as one of the key drivers of the Nigerian economy, it is believe that the conference would not have come at a better time.
