As part of its effort to reduce unemployment by equipping young Nigerian graduates with employable skills, the federal government through the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), has put in place a Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), a programme designed to provide young graduates with industry-based experience by connecting them with industry-based mentors.
In this programme, while the mentor identifies and employs the required skills for his business, the government pays! Yes, the government pays these employees monthly allowances to enable them acquire marketable skills and most importantly skills that will enable them establish and manage their businesses profitably.
